NBC Announces Gaming-Related Show

It turns out that some celebrities also get to be geeks. And they’ll be geeking out on NBC sometime in 2013.

NBC has ordered “Hollywood Game Night,” a new hour-long game show series from Emmy Award-winning actor/producer Sean Hayes (“Will & Grace,” “Hot in Cleveland”), based on his real-life “game nights,” featuring A-list celebrities hanging out and living it up in a cocktail party atmosphere.

The premise is one part game night, one part celebrity hangout. It will be run by and is the brain child of the versatile Sean Hayes. In each of the planned 60 minute episodes, the show will pluck a couple of average folks to carouse with various famous people, play games, and win money.

Now, it’s too early to say what kind of gaming it will entail, but we’re hoping for a fun mix of game styles. We aren’t expecting a network game show version of Tabletop (yet), but we can safely say that this won’t be another Hollywood Squares remake.
