Rob Daviau and H.P. Lovecraft, together at last. The designer behind Pandemic Legacy and SeaFall is currently working on a new game steeped in Lovecraftian horror that’s due to arrive sometime next year.
Mountains of Madness is based on one of Lovecraft’s most recognized tales of terror involving an ill-fated expedition in the Antarctic wrapped up in a chilly burrito of insanity and cosmic evil. Daviau’s take on the story will feature visuals from Small World and 7 Wonders artist Miguel Coimbra, and is expected to be released in 2017 from Iello.
Little else is known about the game, particularly if this game will represent another foray into the legacy-style gameplay popularized by Daviau. The designer offered an early look at the game in March, which at that time seemed to indicate it would include elements of exploration as well as a sand timer.
Whatever form Mountains of Madness takes, we remain crazy excited to see what Rob Daviau has up his sleeves.
