It appears that fans of Splendor can look forward to a new expansion in the future. Publisher Space Cowboys took to Facebook this week to tease some new content in development for the popular set collection and engine-building game, offering an early glimpse at what we can expect.

While the company stopped well short of sharing any specific details, the photo above appears to show an additional row of cards face up in front of players, though to what end remains largely a mystery. The company notes that more details will be announced “soon,” adding that the base game will be required to play.

Splendor was originally released in 2014, and was quickly lauded with accolades that included winning that year’s Golden Geek Best Family Board Game and Golden Geek Board Game of the Year. The game was also nominated for the prestigious Spiel des Jahres award in 2014. We look forward to finding out exactly what this new expansion will add to Splendor’s winning formula.
